AFGE IS BACK
YOUR RIGHTS ARE RESTORED.
UNDERSTANDING YOUR RESTORED RIGHTS
AFGE has been fully restored following a federal court order, reinstating all union rights, protections, and agreements. Learn what this means for you and how to ensure full representation moving forward.
WHAT HAPPENED?
HOW WE GOT HERE.
In August 2025, the VA attempted to terminate the union contract. Employees were told the union no longer existed, and membership dropped significantly.
In March 2026, a federal court ordered the VA to fully restore the Master Collective Bargaining Agreement (MCBA)—including all local agreements, MOUs, and protections.
This means:
-
The union is active
-
Your rights are enforceable
-
Grievances and protections are back in place

WHY REJOINING NOW MATTERS
THE CONTRACT HAS BEEN RESTORED BUT ENFORCEMENT DEPENDS ON ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP
Without members:
-
Violations go unchallenged
-
Employees face issues alone
With members:
-
The union can enforce the contract
-
Employees are protected
-
The workforce has a stronger voice
